A drawing records the movement that made it at the intersection of only one plane– a small portion of the performance that made it.
My recent process explores the aspects of the performance that are lost, or obscured, by the final drawing. These unedited digital images are recorded in dance studio sessions with an interval timer. I moved as though in the drawing studio, but with no paper. The movement and moments recorded in these "documents" present multiple dimensions of a performative drawing practice.
As part of this investigation, I also ask myself about the way drawing protects the artist from revealing these aspects of the process, and I question how much of the movement behind the drawing I am willing to reveal.
